<h4 class="wp-block-heading">My recipe for a sugar-free cocoa drink with psyllium husk </h4>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I developed this recipe because I did not find the texture and taste of psyllium husk in water or juice satisfying. However, this recipe is simply fantastic. Besides offering a great taste and texture, it also provides the stomach with raw cocoa powder, which has a prebiotic effect.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The fats in cocoa are anti-inflammatory and help improve overall health while enjoying a delicious cup of cocoa. The recipe is designed to make the cocoa drink cold. This is because when you only use a small amount of water to dissolve the cocoa/sucrin mixture, it later dissolves very easily in the drink.</p>

<li>One small teaspoon of raw cocoa powder</li>



<li>One or two teaspoons of sucrin</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Stir before each sip, as the psyllium husk may settle at the bottom.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I take such a &#8220;gut shot&#8221; every evening, and it&#8217;s absolutely delicious.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It is also beneficial to drink an extra glass of water afterward, as psyllium husk absorbs a lot of liquid in the stomach.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the evening, it&#8217;s tempting to raid the snack cabinet and indulge in sweets. It&#8217;s the time of day when exhaustion sets in, and all you crave is something sweet to enjoy while lounging on the couch.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Unfortunately, this doesn’t align with reducing sugar intake to maintain healthy skin and body. Instead, I suggest having a serving of spiced oatmeal with almonds as an evening snack. It’s a much better option that won’t have a negative impact on your blood sugar and insulin levels.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you’re into strength training, you know how important it is to feel energized and focused before hitting the weights. This pre-workout is a game-changer for me, and here’s why I think it’s worth adding to your strength training routine also.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It is impossible to understate the importance of energy when it comes to crushing a workout. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">When the craving for sweets and snacks hits, it&#8217;s good to have healthy options on hand.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I have tried and tested a lot of low-calorie alternatives to ordinary snacks and candy. In this article I will share my insights with you, so you can stay lean while satisfying your sweet tooth.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Most of us have sedentary jobs in an office sitting behind the computer most of the day. When we get home we sit with our phones, laptops, and iPads. By living like this we do not expend the extra calories that are in all the “good stuff” we crave and often eat during the day. Over time the extra calories add up and the pants begin to tighten. Slowly, but surely.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In this section, I will go through some af the healthy snacks that I use to stay fit and lean, while still having some of life&#8217;s good things.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We will look into what they are and the benefits they offer besides being a healthier alternative when the craving comes during the day and especially at night.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sugar-Free Chewing Gum</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="http://stimorol.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sugar-free chewing gum</a> is low in calories compared to regular gum that contains sugar. By opting for sugar-free varieties, you can satisfy your desire for chewing without adding extra calories to your diet. It can be a helpful tool for controlling calorie intake, particularly during times when cravings or the urge to snack strike.</p>

In our cupboard, we have a box with a bag of raisins and a bag of almonds. A quick grab and your cravings are instantly fulfilled.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another great way to track your progress is to use a body composition machine. We have one in my gym and it is the <a href="https://inbodyusa.com/products/inbody570/">InBody 570</a>. This machine can very precisely analyse your body composition and tell you the results after 30 second of scanning.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After the measurement it shows how much muscle you have, your fat percentage and weight. By using this machine reguraly you can see how exercise changes the body with the main goal of increasing musle mass and decreasing bodyfat. After many years of training my measurements is not changing that much, but if you are just starting to train then the changes will noticeable.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To keep track of my progress I take a picture of the results and keep it in my iPhone. Then I can allways search “Inbody” and all the measurements will show up.<br></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Nutrition and Recovery</strong><br>Consistency extends beyond the gym and into your lifestyle, especially when it comes to nutrition and recovery. Consistent habits in these areas play a pivotal role in maximizing the benefits of your strength training efforts. Combined with a strong focus of <a href="https://eczemahealingguide.com/fit-n-lean-series-protein-timing-in-strength-training/">suffiently protein</a> you will over time achieve great results.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After my strength training session on saturday mornings I have a steak of minced beef and a cup of coffee.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The rest of the day I eat quite a lot more than on non-training days. It is to boost my recovery and get enough proteins and other nutrients to maximize the building of muscle.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For me, it works quite well to have exercise as a foundation in my mu life. My goal is always to have two strength training and two core training sessions a week. By alternating between these two I maximize the recovery time of both. That is done by strength training on Saturday and Wednesday, and coretrain in the days in between, normally Thursday and Monday.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Consistency and discipline ensure that your commitment to strength training remains a lifelong journey rather than a short-term pursuit. Only by being consistent year after year, you can expect exceptional results. And be one of the few men that have a body to be proud of!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lentil patties without milk and eggs are healthy and easy to make. They are suitable for allergy sufferers who cannot tolerate milk and eggs, but also for busy families with children. A bag of lentil patties in the freezer is perfect for those busy days when you might otherwise be tempted by fast food.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">They are made with finely ground lentil flour from your local grocery but are more often found in shops that sell vegan products. The lentil patties are now a stable part of my family&#8217;s meal plan, as it is a dish that both children and adults love.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I make them in the oven and put them in the freezer. When it is time to have them for dinner, they are fried in vegan butter or plant oil. The frying gives them a super crispy crust and the sesame seeds have a crunchy bite.<br>This way you can prepare them in advance and have them in the freezer for days when you are on a tight schedule.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Ingredients</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>1 dl lentil flour</li>



<li>1 cup oatmeal</li>



<li>½ dl sesame seeds</li>



<li>2 dl water (maximum amount, put it in a little at a time)</li>



<li>teaspoon salt, a little pepper, paprika, chili and cumin</li>



<li>3 dl chopped vegetables (e.g. onion, leek, and carrot)</li>



<li>2 cloves of garlic</li>
</ul>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Course of action</strong><br>The vegetables are grated and please do not use a blender. We have tried that and the result was not good. The patties became hard and not mushy and crispy as when we used a normal grater.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Mix the ingredients in a bowl in the above order. After the water has been added, the dough is stirred well and the last ingredients are added.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">By using the metal ring from a steak press, you can easily shape the lentil patties in a round shape. Dip the metal ring in water before and between each filling, then the lentil dough will release easily. You can also put blobs of lentil dough on the baking paper and that will give a more random shape :-).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The lentil patties are baked in the oven at 200 degrees for approx. 30 minutes They should be a little brown on top, but there must still be room for them to get a little crust on the pan when frying.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Epsom Salt is often used as a natural treatment for eczema skin. That&#8217;s why I ordered a 5 kg bag of Westlab Epsom salt from lookfantastic.dk to see if there was anything on the matter.<br>I have tested the product for some time and here you can read about my experiences.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Epsom salt is actually not salt, which after all consists of sodium chloride, but magnesium sulfate in crystal form. It is used as a natural relief of skin problems and falls into the same category as e.g. Dead Sea salt. Usually it is added to the bath water in a tub, but since I take showers and not tubs, I had to find another way to do the salt bath.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The answer was to dissolve the salt in water and use this the solution as a kind of &#8220;bath soap&#8221;. By filling a plastic bottle with the Epsom-Salt solution, I can take it into the shower.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When applying the solution, after a while you can see the Epsom salt as a fine white powder on the skin. Now scrub yourself with your hands and get the cleansing effect you normally use soap for. A handful of fine kitchen salt gives an additional scrubbing effect and is very good for e.g. washing the armspits.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Finally, I shower as usual and the &#8220;best&#8221; part of the bath now comes when the temperature is turned to cold. It is beneficial for your health if you can stay in the cold shower for at least a few minutes, in order to get the maximum positive effect of the cold bath :-).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The result after a few weeks of showering with Epsom salt is really good. My skin is soft and eczema-free, and I no longer use shampoo and soap. The moisturizing creams are now only used sparsely, as the skin is no longer dry.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Using Epsom salt instead of soaps has not had any odor drawbacks and it seems that the body likes this kind of shower better as it feels more natural.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Epsom salt and washing with common table salt do not remove the skin&#8217;s natural oils. Therefore, the water beads off and you don&#8217;t need so much lotion to re-moisturize the skin after bathing.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">When there is an eczema flare-up</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It has for me been effective to use Epsom salt followed by regular salt for thorough but gentle scrubbing of the skin during eczema flare-ups.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The method is to cover your body in Epsom salt solution in the bath and while it dries, massage the skin until it is dry and the salt can be seen. The skin is then moistened under the shower and gently scrubbed with common salt.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The skin becomes clean and the eczema areas are often pink, but non-itchy. Prescription creams such as e.g. Locoid is applied to the eczema-spot and after five to ten minutes, the Cerave cream is applied. It seals, moisturizes and protects the skin during the treatment.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Epsom salt and water, shake-shake and after a while all the salt is dissolved and you have a bottle ready to take with you in the bath..</p>

In this blog post, we will delve into the significance of protein timing in strength training and explore how it can impact muscle growth, recovery, and overall results.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. Pre-Workout Protein:</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Consuming protein before a strength training session is essential for priming the body and providing the necessary amino acids for muscle repair and growth. Aim to consume a protein-rich meal or snack approximately 1-2 hours before your workout. This will ensure a sustained release of amino acids during the training session, promoting an anabolic environment within the muscles.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I like to train in the morning, so I have one vegan protein bar before going to the gym. Also the evening before the trainingday I have a snack consisting of half a glass of mashed apples with müsli, sukrin gold sugar-alternative and oat milk. It tastes so good and your body has a lot of nutrients and fibers to digest through the night, making the muscles ready for exercise in the morning.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. Intra-Workout Protein:</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While pre-and post-workout nutrition often takes the spotlight, the importance of intra-workout protein should not be overlooked. Some athletes opt for branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) or Essential Amino Acids (EAA) supplementation during their workouts to support muscle protein synthesis and prevent muscle breakdown. However, recent research suggests that consuming a complete protein source, such as whey protein, during the workout may have additional benefits in terms of maximizing muscle protein synthesis.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The problem for me is that I am allergic to dairy and milk protein. As a substitute, I choose vegan protein bars as well as EAA amino acid supplements. And it works just as well as a protein powder containing Whey (Milk protein).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During the training season I have two half-liter bottles as hydration source. One is filled with instant coffee, two teaspoons sugar and some oatmilk. The other one is filled with EAA-amino acid supplement, the daily intake of creatine, and filled with water.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">By having this as hydration throughout the session I make sure that amino acids and sugars are available in the bloodstream for the muscles when they train.  It is also an easy way to optimize the recovery that happens shortly after the session has finished.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. Post-Workout Protein:</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The post-workout period is widely recognized as a critical window for optimal protein intake. Consuming protein within 1-2 hours after a strength training session helps kickstart the recovery process, repairs damaged muscle fibers, and stimulates muscle protein synthesis. <br />Meat protein, especially minced chicken meat, is what I recommend and eat as an ideal post-workout protein source. A dish made with 500 grams of minced chicken meat, 1 deciliter of rice, 2 deciliters of water, pineapple, curry, salt, and pepper, is well-tasting and tastes just plain good. Put it all in a pot or a microwave rice cooker and you have a delicious protein-rich dish that is made in about 20 minutes. On top of all that it is quite cheap and easy to make.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another good protein-loaded option after my strength training session is to prepare a minced beef patty in the toaster. It is so easy and you will eat a protein of the highest quality and with a complete amino acid composition. This is one of my favorites since I buy the minced beef patties when they are on sale in the supermarket.</p>

Recent studies have shown that ingesting a slow-digesting protein source before sleep can enhance overnight muscle protein synthesis and improve recovery. This strategy can be particularly beneficial for individuals engaged in intense strength training programs.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">5. Total Daily Protein Intake:</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While protein timing is essential, it is equally vital to meet your daily protein requirements. Ensure you&#8217;re consuming an adequate amount of protein spread throughout the day to optimize muscle protein synthesis and maintain a positive nitrogen balance. Aim for a protein intake of around 1.6-2.2 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, depending on your individual goals and training intensity.</p>
